I'm no professional griller, but I've been doing it for a while, cooking for myself and family and friends. As with anything that you do for a period of time, you have your favorite utensils or tools. The turner that I've had for many many years I had a handle made of wood and was getting to the point where the rivets just wouldn't tighten up any longer so it was time to replace it I have several OX o tools and devices in the kitchen, so I felt certain this one would be well made. My expectations were not unfounded. The rubber handle is not overly heavy, but it has a sturdy feel to it and is shaped well to allow my hand to grip it well. The type of rubber that they use to make the handle out of has a texture to it that's just soft enough to allow very good control of it. The business end of the flipper is stiff and sure but has a small amount of flex to it. I've used it a couple of times already, burning burgers on my grill, and even though it's shorter than my old flipper, it has performed very well.
The bottom line on this tool? It's well made and seems to have quality materials so that it should last for a long time. I think it's time for my old flipper to retire to a place of respect and for it to sit back and watch the new flipper come in and do its job.
